Camilo… “The Sacred Monster”. By the mid-1980s, Camilo Sesto had already become a superstar in the music world. For several years, a group of Japanese businessmen had shown interest in presenting Camilo's show in their country. In the last quarter of 1984, a Japanese commercial and technical team traveled to the United States to finalize their arrangements, where the artist was performing with great success. Finally, in 1985, the goal was achieved: from May 3rd to 20th, Camilo Sesto was in Japan, where he performed seven concerts in different cities, also participating in promotional programs for local radio and television.
The media presented him as “The Sacred Monster,” an appellation earned due to his impressive vocal range, the great energy displayed in his performances, his capabilities as a lyricist-composer, his international prestige, all contrasted with his more than 20 million records sold by then.
This 2025 marks 40 years since that significant event in the artistic life of Camilo, that young man from Alcoy who, perhaps in his early days, would not have imagined that his musical legacy would transcend any continental border and cross generations over time.
