On the tenth anniversary of Les ratlles del banyador (2012), La Iaia's first album, its former leader, Ernest Crusats, began his solo career. Conceived in the middle of a pandemic, La font gelada is a delicate piece of folk jewelry magically connected to the environment and nature: eleven songs – two of them instrumental – that, in the era of ultra-programming, are a balm for our ears. . Recorded at the Guissona theater (Lleida) and produced together with Jordi Matas in a curious and, in its simplicity, radical aesthetic bet – live and with a single eight track – Ernest Crusats' debut invites us to think: is there room for What is essential amidst all the noise? Without renouncing the styles that made La Iaia one of the capital groups of Catalonia in the past decade, La font gelada connects with that tradition that gave us masterpieces such as Liebeslied (1972), by Toti Soler, or Jo, la dona i el gripau (1971) by the recently deceased Pau Riba. And he does it from a contemporaneity twinned with Sufjan Stevens or Bon Iver.
