Joan Miquel Oliver returns, and he does so with Electronic Devices (Oigo Discos, 2023). Joan Miquel Oliver needs no introductions. To talk about him is to talk about one of the most prolific artists on the national scene. And while it is true that the Mallorcan has not released a studio album of songs under his name since 2018 when he finished the Pegasus, Atlantis and Elektra trilogy, he has not wasted a second and has given us, among many things, his instrumental album The Adventures of note LA (2020), the live Live in my house (2022) or the long-awaited and celebrated return of Antònia Font with Un minut estroboscòpica (2022) and the triumphant tour that is accompanying the album.
But let's talk about what's coming with your Electronic Devices. The name of the album is already a declaration of intentions about the sounds that we are going to discover, find and enjoy. For 30 minutes and 10 songs, Joan Miquel Oliver flirts between pop and electronic music and explores their different faces. Emotions are guaranteed from the first Se pon es sol to the last Georgina, passing through the sense of humor, a trademark of the house, which the song Cinquanta euros presents to us. Furthermore, it is a step forward with respect to the previous albums featuring Stefania Lusini in Robot Mayordomo and Sentiment feelings, taking us to the Italian dance floors and expanding Oliver's already well-known Power Trio to a quartet.
