Los Planetas contra la ley de la gravedad (Los Planetas Against the Law of Gravity) is the sixth studio album by the Granada rock band Los Planetas. Released on July 26, 2004. The album consists of twelve songs, two of which are instrumentals.
The album opens with a hammond organ that immediately brings to mind the late sixties psychedelia that the Granada natives are so fond of, and which serves to introduce "El golpe de gracia." Then comes "Devuélveme la pasta," one of the band's most typical and best songs on the album. And "Y además es imposible" features one of the best lyrics on the album and the collaboration of Irantzu from La Buena Vida, who appears to answer J about where "the piece of your heart I can't have" is located. The album includes two songs that were already known. "Experimentos con gaseosa" was included in Los Planetas se disuelven. However, it's a slightly different version, lasting almost a minute longer. It's one of the most delightful and mellow tracks on the album. Another of the "not-new" songs is "Podría volver," which already appeared on the tribute to Bambino and serves to close the album with its surprising flamenco flair and a threat that we hope they will fulfill.
This new work also contains two instrumentals: "124" and "Cumplimentando compromisos contractuales." "Sale el sol," a surprising love song built around a cheerful melody, and "Deberes y privilegios," which features well-placed wind arrangements and, once again, more than interesting lyrics.
It reached number 3 on the Spanish sales chart.
