"ROTO X TI", A SPECIAL PREVIEW OF HIS ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM "POPULAR" WITH WHICH YERAI CORTÉS CERTIFIES THE REBIRTH OF FLAMENCO.
Yerai Cortés no longer needs to prove anything. Throughout 2024 and 2025, he has provided more than enough evidence, both in the studio and live, that his overflowing creativity transcends genres. His understanding of flamenco possesses the rare ability to blur the boundaries between the pure and the mixed. Yes, because Yerai sounds pure and, at the same time, radically contemporary. He possesses the purity of authenticity, without having to abandon risk, adventurousness, or the exploration of new sonic spaces. And now he makes it crystal clear again with his new track, "ROTO X TI."
After the first surprise, the delightful alegrías/jotas extremeñas bundle "Ni en los puertos italiano, ni en los cafés parisinos," and after the second preview with the vitalist tango por rumbas "LIRILI" - with which the famous El Corte Inglés campaign kicked off spring - now comes "ROTO X TI."
A rumba full of freshness, in which the listener seems to feel the gentle Mediterranean breeze on their face, especially in that beautiful, intimate, and confessional beginning where Yerai, alone and for the first time, confronts the clear and clean notes of his guitar with his voice. It's a song where guilt and regret are the absolute protagonists of its lyrics. And yet, after the lament for the pain caused, a feeling of rebirth and eternal love is breathed.
A song released just after Yerai Cortés' return from his tour in Portugal and the Azores Islands, where he left the same good impression as he did during his itinerary last year through cities across Spain, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, and Holland, with sold-out signs in the vast majority of them.
"ROTO X TI" is an excellent appetizer that eases the wait until the release of his much-anticipated second album, "POPULAR," which will be launched via Sony Music on April 17th and will surely maintain and even surpass the level achieved with his previous album, "La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés," which was the soundtrack to the successful eponymous film, marking C. Tangana's directorial debut and earning two Goya awards for best documentary and best song for "Los almendros."
The wait to hear "POPULAR" in full is long. But without a doubt, it will be worth it.
