8-Tracks is Pink Floyd's new compilation featuring eight essential classic tracks from the 1971-1979 period. It will be released on June 5th on blue vinyl, black vinyl, CD, and digital, all available for pre-order now.
8-Tracks includes recognizable tracks such as "Money," "Wish You Were Here," "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2," "Time," and "Comfortably Numb," along with earlier tracks like "One Of These Days" and "Wot’s… Uh The Deal," as well as an exclusive full version of "Pigs On The Wing," previously available on the 1977 8-track cartridge release of Animals.
8-Tracks chronicles Pink Floyd's transition into their most successful era, which propelled them to stardom throughout the 1970s. The eight-year period celebrated by this edition spans tracks from some of the band's most acclaimed albums: Meddle (1971), Obscured by Clouds (1972), The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Wall (1979). Six monumental albums, classics in their own right. Together, this is a body of work that shows Pink Floyd moving away from the psychedelic pop era of Syd Barrett and their post-experimental output, and cementing their global status as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. The track sequence has been edited by Steven Wilson using sound effects extracted from the original multi-tracks to create a continuous listening experience, in classic Pink Floyd style.
A starting point for new listeners to discover the depth and breadth of Pink Floyd's unparalleled discography, as well as a carefully curated collection for long-time fans to appreciate.
