New special editions with unreleased tracks, rarities, and outtakes are released
Patti Smith's iconic album, Horses, originally released in 1975, turns 50. To celebrate this milestone, new special editions will be released on 2LP and 2CD on October 10.
This reissue will include the original album remastered directly from the original tapes, as well as outtakes and unreleased rarities, including Patti Smith's 1975 audition tape for RCA. The release of Horses (50th Anniversary) will feature eight previously unreleased songs, such as "Snowball," which is already available, and "Birdland (Alternate Take)," along with RCA demos.
“The poet can be alone, but by joining a band, she surrenders to the wonder of teamwork. Thus, united, we created Horses together” – Patti Smith, Bread of Angels.
Today, October 8, Patti Smith will perform ‘Horses’ in its entirety live at the Teatro Real in Madrid. This month, Patti Smith also released her highly anticipated memoir, Bread of Angels. In Smith's most intimate and visionary work, the author describes her childhood after World War II in working-class Philadelphia and South Jersey, her adolescence, when the first sparks of art and romance emerged, her rise as a punk rock icon, and her withdrawal from public life when she met her true love and started a family on the shores of Lake Saint Clair, Michigan. As Smith experiences profound losses, she also returns to writing, the only constant in a life path driven by artistic freedom and the power of imagination.
