Niña Pastori releases "Periódico de ayer," the first single from COLOR FANIA, a new album project with which the artist from Cadiz delves into the legacy of FANIA Records, the label that transformed the history of Latin music from New York and turned salsa into a language of identity, community, and celebration.
The original song, immortalized by Héctor Lavoe, appeared in 1976 on the album De Ti Depende, the Puerto Rican singer's second solo work, produced by Willie Colón and a key work in his artistic career. Written by Tite Curet Alonso, "Periódico de ayer" has become one of the great salsa anthems for its ability to turn a story of heartbreak into a universal metaphor, as everyday as it is poetic, as elegant as it is profoundly human.
With COLOR FANIA, Niña Pastori offers a personal and respectful interpretation of this legacy. Recorded between Miami and Spain and produced by Colombian CASTA, the album revisits great titles from the Fania repertoire from a perspective that does not seek to imitate, but to reinterpret with character, sensibility, and truth. An album that will feature tracks such as Plástico, by Rubén Blades and Willie Colón; Bemba colorá, by Celia Cruz; El gran varón, by Willie Colón; Incomprendido, by Ismael Rivera; Me voy ahora, by Ismael Miranda, and the track that is released today with a video clip on YouTube.

The video clip, filmed last February under the direction of Spanish filmmaker Chusky Barrantes, shows Niña Pastori surrounded by her usual musicians and supported by a powerful brass section. A sober and direct staging that reinforces the performance and in which the artist captures the essence of the Fania label, connecting tradition and emotion from a very authentic place.
With this release, Niña Pastori will tour this summer presenting "Color Fania" along with great classics from her career in a new format tour that you won't want to miss.
