María José Llergo Presents El Juego, an Album About Transformation, Risk, and Creative Freedom
María José Llergo presenta El Juego, un álbum sobre la transformación, el riesgo y la libertad creativa

The Cordoban artist showcases her most experimental and creative side in this project, whose narrative focuses on the reconstruction of the transition to adulthood

Following the international consolidation of Ultrabelleza (2023), María José Llergo returns with El Juego, her third album project: an expansive and deeply personal work in which the Cordoban artist explores new sonic and visual languages to reflect on the transition to adulthood.

Built on the idea of play as a space for freedom, imagination, and disruption, the album offers a critical perspective on the rigidity of social structures and the loss of spontaneity that accompanies growth. In this new project, Llergo also allows herself to break with her own creative boundaries, incorporating sounds and registers unprecedented in her career: from electronic textures to rhythms close to bachata, permeated by Andalusian sensibility and flamenco roots.

The visual universe of El Juego, developed in collaboration with the creative studio Santa Mónica, expands the emotional narrative of the album and transforms each audiovisual piece into an extension of the musical story. The project embraces a symbolic, performative, and cohesive aesthetic, where image and sound constantly interact.

The official album presentation took place at Fnac Callao, in Madrid, in a performance conceived by the artist herself: María José Llergo appeared inside a doll box while fans surrounded her, listening to her new album for the first time. Equipped with studio headphones, they enjoyed the album that would be released hours later on all digital and analog platforms. This performance reinforced the conceptual imagery of El Juego and its reflection on identity, exposure, and personal construction.

From the release of Sanación (2020) to winning the Goya Award (2022) and institutional recognition with the Flag of Arts of Andalusia, among other accolades, María José Llergo has established herself as one of the most unique voices in contemporary Spanish music, renewing flamenco with a contemporary and emotionally radical perspective.
