This transition from the intimate to the collective is perfectly captured by Mafalda Cardenal with “mis notas de voz” (my voice notes), her debut album, a work that stems from the artist's own experiences but is very much a social portrait of a generation that sees her as one of its best representatives.
Mafalda is releasing “mis notas de voz” today, April 25th, just over a month after the release of “en mi balcón” (on my balcony), her new single, which launched the album's pre-sale. A single that follows in the footsteps of a series of preview tracks that have catapulted her as a chronicler of Gen Z.
“mis notas de voz” is an album without collaborations because Mafalda doesn't need to tell her stories through anyone else's voice. It is her own experiences, told by herself, that shape the 18 songs of an album that was born this way, as a series of WhatsApp audios recorded in the intimacy of her room.
“mis notas de voz” is released with a physical CD edition that is especially handcrafted, reflecting the personality of an artist who has become the spokesperson for an entire generation. The CD will be accompanied by a gift pack of stickers, designed by the artist and inspired by the artistic universe of “mis notas de voz,” as well as a poster with a photo of Mafalda Cardenal and the song lyrics.
To kick things off, Mafalda Cardenal exclusively presented her highly anticipated album “mis notas de voz” yesterday in a truly special showcase held at Espacio Movistar. The event, full of subtleties and with a carefully designed staging, immersed the audience in an atmosphere that evoked open, organic landscapes and a visual imaginary deeply linked to the soul of the album. True to her style, Mafalda overflowed with talent on stage, connecting with the audience in an intimate and brilliant evening, where every note reaffirmed her artistic identity.
“mis notas de voz” is therefore an album 100% conceived, composed, and written by Mafalda Cardenal, with an intro produced by herself and full of guitars. From her first preview, “Solo un nombre” (Just a Name), or the first ballad on the album, “Vete a la luna” (Go to the Moon), each reaching 2 million streams, the 23-year-old singer and songwriter conceives her compositions as injections of youth pop, confirming the essence of a moving artist who aims to open a new era in Spanish pop.
With this background, Mafalda Cardenal already has an international appeal, which will lead her to present “mis notas de voz” not only in Spain but also in up to seven cities in Mexico (the capital, León, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Aguas Calientes, and Puebla) and in other venues in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and Colombia starting April 29th.
