After turning the state of the music scene upside down with her debut ‘Contra Todo Pronóstico’ in 2023, on March 21, 2025, Barcelona-based artist Lia Kali will release her highly anticipated second full-length album titled ‘Kaelis’.
With production by Granada's gem Toni Anzis and multi-platinum Californian producer Larrance “Rance 1500” Dopson, and vocal collaborations from Eladio Carrión and American rapper Symba, the album features 17 new tracks that move musically in the most current urban style with high doses of organic elements and the unique stamp of Lia’s voice.
In ‘Kaelis’, Lia Kali proposes a leap to the heavens, embracing the uncertainty of the future from a present that ambivalently navigates between success, purity, money, or love, and the turbulences, fear, vertigo, frustration, and death.
Lia Kali recorded ‘Kaelis’ slowly but with the flame permanently lit throughout 2024, in urgent and constant combination with the almost 60 concerts on both sides of the Atlantic that made up the second year of her first album's presentation tour. With her trusted producer Toni Anzis present at all sessions, from the Granada Altiplano to the Verneda neighborhood of Barcelona, passing through Vall d’en Bas and finishing in Burbank, Los Angeles, California, where Rance Dopson, the mastermind and musical director of the legendary and award-winning American musical collective “1500 or Nothing” (Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg...), finally joined. This is how ‘Kaelis’ has been a journey already in and since its creation: long, exciting, full of stops and different skies, and by no means exempt from the turbulences, vertigo, and fears that come with the desire to fly high. ‘Kaelis’ takes over from the debut ‘Contra Todo Pronóstico’, an urgent collection of pieces conceived during lockdown with which the Barcelona singer let loose and spilled everything: “there you have it, here’s my stuff, I needed to sing it.” In the new album, Lia Kali doesn’t hold back either, but there’s a new perspective where the artist, without losing an iota of her charismatic singing and storytelling style, seems to sing from a more reflective and accepting point of view. But make no mistake, ‘Kaelis’ is also packed with sharp words, accurate darts, heartfelt emotions, and it’s entirely permeated by an artistic impression that is 100% Lia Kali’s trademark, which is none other than making us instantly connect with our fears and desires through the forcefulness of her songs and the overwhelming nature of her emotions. Just as the sky harbors all lights and, in turn, darkness only dotted by the meandering glow of stars and planets, in ‘Kaelis’ there is also room for play and implicit fun when making music, and there is space for pieces that seamlessly integrate current codes and styles, giving the collection of songs an undeniable taste that brings the album closer to mainstream pop. Lia Kali takes flight in this, her second album, and touches and sings her skies in ‘Kaelis’ in an exercise that overflows with courage and talent, inviting us to participate in the journey and to look up and fly to our particular skies while we listen to her sing. And it’s been a long time since so many of us felt that at once when someone sings.
