Italian metal titans Lacuna Coil release 'I Wish You Were Dead'. The last preview, just 3 days before its release, of their 10th studio album: Sleepless Empire, which will be released on February 14 in various formats. 'I Wish You Were Dead' deals with the emotional confusion and struggle that accompanies toxic relationships. The song's video turns the theme into a romantic gothic tale, just in time for Valentine's Day.
The band talks about the new single and the album release:
"We all have that one person we wish had never existed, right? We all feel the need to erase that very person from our thoughts, someone who hurt us and is still on our minds. We wanted to write heavier lyrics on a happier musical canvas. Plus, we're a little tired of being politically correct at all costs..."
"Sleepless Empire captures, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media consumes identity and every day pushes us one step closer to becoming soulless zombies. We find ourselves in the middle, having witnessed a totally analog world and the modern one, facing evolution and seeking a true meaning of it all. Throughout each song, the journey is a backdrop of rebellion, a desperate cry to reclaim oneself in a time that seems to have lost all sense of time and reality."
Sleepless Empire consists of 11 new tracks, each a richly textured soundtrack of a specific time and place. With Sleepless Empire, that place is dark, cinematic, and unmistakably true to the unique characteristics that have given Lacuna Coil such a celebrated entry into the annals of heavy music.
Lacuna Coil has just announced a European tour, which will visit our country in October: October 16 at La Riviera (Madrid), October 18 at Sala Custom (Seville), and October 20 at Apolo (Barcelona).
