The Barcelona-born singer solidifies her status as a pop diva in this new stage, which will tour the Iberian Peninsula with "Els 23 Tour."
A name, Julieta, and a number, 23. The Barcelona-born artist doesn't beat around the bush and releases her second studio album produced by Phoac: '23', her age and a vital stage that leaves no one indifferent. Being a pop diva is no longer a promise: Julieta consolidates her reign and opens a new chapter, with an album in which the singer pours the most intimate experience of the most universal experience of growing up. The fairy tale aura, the autobiographical perspective, challenging performances, and a multifaceted sound make '23' the album with which the Catalan singer fulfills her goal of "bringing pop to the streets."
"When we are little, we all invent stories of what our own life will be like, and as we grow up, you realize that none of that is real, that everything changes with time," explains the artist. In '23', Julieta dismantles the ideal life, through 8 new songs, in which she mainly uses Catalan, to explain that the perfect fairy tale is nothing more than a backdrop and that change and passion for life are the only constants to cling to.
Julieta is very autobiographical and writes to understand what is happening to her. That's why, 'Els Contes' is the first song on '23', a global project in which each song is an independent story with more organic sounds, incorporating guitars, drums, and violins. The singer cries on her birthday and bids farewell to adolescence in 'Tornado', dances to new rhythms in 'L'amor de la meva vida' with actor Iván Pellicer in the music video, and plays through the streets of Barcelona in 'Taxi', the first preview of the album.
Themes like 'M'oblido d'oblidar-te' tell us that maturing also means realizing that romantic stories don't always end happily ever after, and that you can cry in spring. That, as one gets older, love takes on different meanings such as self-esteem in 'Loba', or the purest friendship that overcomes distance in 'Bruna'.
Julieta values her entire environment and to do so, she reinvents the classic 'Amics per Sempre' by Andrew Lloyd Webber, later popularized by José Carreras or Los Manolos. This is further proof that, in this album, the singer wanted to cover all facets of pop that have accompanied her throughout her life, from a theatrical perspective. Mixed and mastered by Nathan Boddy (James Blake, Mura Masa, Pink Pantheress, Olivia Dean, Oklou...), '23' combines the artist's angelic voice with sensual and extroverted choreographies, enhancing the most flexible side of the pop genre.
Julieta is the face of pop in the new Catalan scene. She officially debuted with 'Juji' (2021), 'Ni llum ni lluna' (2022), and her album '5AM' (2023), she has collaborated with artists such as Mushkaa - 'No m'estima +' and 'Vaya liada' -, Belen Aguilera - 'Thelma y Louise' - and Oques Grasses - 'Com el dia i la nit'. Now, the singer brings her unmistakable "Tu juru la ju" to a new, more mature, profound, fun, and sensual stage, determined to cross borders and establish herself as a pop diva. Of course, one of the current ones, who is approachable and down-to-earth.
After a successful 2024 with the 'Tu Juru la Ju Tour' - a tour with more than 50 concerts -, Julieta "brings pop to the streets" in '23', her second studio album with which she will revolutionize audiences across the peninsula: "Els 23 tour" kicked off on April 24 in Lleida, opening a season with 15 confirmed performances, including dates at the Share Festival in Barcelona, the Big Sound Festival in Valencia, Canet Rock, BBK Live in Bilbao and Brava Madrid in the capital, and many more dates yet to be confirmed.
