Jethro Tull announces their new album: Curious Ruminant, to be released on March 7th. Curious Ruminant will be available in various formats, including a Deluxe Box Set (2 x 180g clear vinyl + 2CD + Blu-ray) and a Deluxe 2CD + Blu-ray edition. Both include the album, alternate stereo mixes, and a Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound, as well as exclusive interview material. The album will also be available in a CD Digipak edition and 180g vinyl.
The album consists of 9 new tracks, ranging from two and a half minutes to nearly seventeen minutes in length. Coinciding with this announcement, the first single, which shares the album's title, 'Curious Ruminant', is being released.
Ian Anderson's lyrics on this album are somewhat more personal than we are used to. Some of the songs have been developed from unfinished instrumental demos made some years ago. In addition to the characteristic flute solos and melodies, accordion, mandolin, and acoustic and tenor guitars also appear on several tracks, so the subtle backdrop of acoustic rock and folk serves to recall Tull's 70s heritage. Among the musicians featured are former keyboardist Andrew Giddings and drummer James Duncan, along with current band members David Goodier, John O'Hara, Scott Hammond, and, making his recording debut with the band, guitarist Jack Clark.
