Jakko M. Jakszyk, vocalist and second guitarist for King Crimson, releases his new solo album: Son Of Glen. The album is a kind of accompaniment to his acclaimed memoir "Who's The Boy With The Lovely Hair", which was published in October 2024. On the album Son Of Glen, he explores many of the themes and issues discussed in the book; it will be available on CD, vinyl and digital on June 27.
Jakko's extraordinary songwriting art is evident in Son Of Glen, his lyrics reflect on our fixation with nostalgia and the human condition. Let us not forget that Jakko is (enviably) also an exceptional guitarist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, whose precision and skill in crafting soundscapes lead us to say that there is no one like Jakko. Despite seemingly being the last person to acknowledge it: Jakko is in a league of his own. The album also features collaborations with drummers Gavin Harrison (King Crimson/Porcupine Tree) and Ian Mosley (Marillion), cellist Caroline Lavelle, Louise Patricia Crane on vocals, and Jakko's son, Django, on bass.
Jakko comments on the title track: "A romantic fantasy narrative based on what I discovered about my real father after decades of fruitless searching. Glen Tripp was an American airman based in the UK who fell in love with a dark-haired Irish singer. And here I was, many, many years later, repeating what he had done. What if he had been watching and guiding me from “afar”?".
