THE WONDERFUL YEAR OF “WHEN YOU BITE YOUR LIP” by LEIVA
EL MARAVILLOSO AÑO DE “CUANDO TE MUERDES EL LABIO” de LEIVA

The When you bite the lip project celebrates its anniversary with the premiere of the video for 'Inertes', which closes a year full of successes for Leiva in Spain and Latin America.

The most recent: his nomination at the Goya Awards in the category of Best Original Song for “SentLo Mucho” with Joaquín Sabina.

It has been one year since Leiva shared with the world her album When you bite the lip, a very special work composed of fourteen songs along with fourteen of the most outstanding female voices in Spanish music in recent years.

Twelve wonderful months of life for this beautiful project, characterized by a successful tour of Spain, and its more than notable growth in Latin America, with dazzling sales and streaming figures.

The anniversary coincides with the premiere of the video for “Inertes”, a playful and optimistic song that he performs with Tulsa, and whose video closes the audiovisual universe of the project after the publication of more than a dozen careful clips, from the impressive cover letter of the album - the trailer When you bite your lip - released in summer 2021.

The video clip is signed by director Claudia Barral, who has directed a large part of the audiovisual project of When you bite the lip, specifically the video clips for “Premio de consolación”, “Blancos Fácil”, “Stranger things”, “Infinitos”, and “With the handkerchief over the eyes.”

When you bite your lip is a unique work. Something that could be verified from its very launch: it was number #1 in sales the first week of its release, it became one of the most sold and listened to albums of last Christmas, and in less than a month it had already became a Gold Record. All the official videos published from the project (about twelve, to which is added the one for “Inertes”) have become a video trend on YouTube Spain, and the first single from the project—“Histéricos”—has achieved Gold Record certification in Songs.

A work that put all trends in check, presented with great care and care in a multitude of formats—including a limited and numbered collector's edition in porcelain format, a special edition “Enhanced album” on Spotify, or a specific site to bring the user closer in a digital way to all the richness and complexity of this work. Furthermore, it is an album made up of fourteen songs, which, after its first year of life, exceeds 110 million streamings on digital platforms.

The other key to Leiva's great year has its epicenter in the When you bite your lip Tour. A tour that has led him to double and even triple capacity in some cities, which more than 250,000 attendees have already been able to enjoy and with which he has accumulated memorable sold outs, such as the one achieved almost ten months in advance at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City, or the one recently achieved at the Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires, in addition to the triple sold out in Madrid this year (on its two dates at the Wizink Center in June, and the one achieved in September within the Jardín de las Delicias Festival ), or the double sold out in Barcelona, unforgettable shows that add to the “sold out” achieved in Valencia, A Coruña, Toledo…

Proof of the artist's growth outside our borders has been the addition of Guadalajara and Monterrey to the tour dates in Mexico—in addition to the show in CDMX. Two stops that were very close to achieving sold out, and that have marked a new milestone in his career.

The When you bite your lip tour will close in 2022 with the concerts in Buenos Aires on December 3 (Teatro Gran Rex), and in Montevideo on December 5 (La Trastienda), and will resume in 2023 with stops already announced at the Festival ViveLatino (CDMX/March), San San Festival (Benicàssim/April), Pamplona (Navarra Arena/April), Spring Festival (Alicante/May), Sónica Festival (Castro-Urdiales, Cantabria/July), Caudal Fest (Lugo/September )… and many more dates that will be announced in the coming days.

Without a doubt, the crowning glory of his wonderful 2022 has been marked by his participation in the documentary film Sintínlo mucho by Fernando León de Aranoa about the most recent years of Joaquín Sabina's life, and in which Leiva closes the creative circle by signing the original soundtrack of the film.

Musician, producer, close friend of Sabina and a key player in the singer's musical composition and production in recent years, Leiva has composed with Joaquín Sabina Sintiento mucho, with which they are already nominated for the 2023 Goya Awards in the category of Best Original song, and it is the theme that closes the film. The official video clip for this song has also been directed by León de Aranoa.

After its presentation at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and the Morelia International Film Festival, Sintidolo mucho premiered on November 17, and in its first days it has already become the most viewed documentary of the year. In addition to the aforementioned nomination for Best Original Song, the film is also nominated in the Best Documentary category at the 2023 Goya Awards.
