POLE. CULMINATES A 5-YEAR JOURNEY FROM ANONYMITY TO THE PINNACLE OF SPANISH MUSIC

It seems hard to believe that only five years have passed since Pole. started uploading songs to the YouTube jungle, reaching thousands of fans who were captivated by the tracks of that young man from Toledo who came from rap but didn't write like a rapper.

Pole. presents 'El Cantante' (The Singer), his second studio album, where he definitively establishes himself as one of the great lyricists of recent decades in Spain and the heir to Kiko Veneno, Joaquín Sabina, or Estopa, both for the depth of his lyrics and their formal perfection; in addition to an increasingly refined taste for national folklore and Spanish popular music.

In addition to the singles already released in recent months, such as 'Rotos' (Broken), featuring Mafalda Cardenal; 'Derecho a No Declarar' (Right Not to Testify) or the most recent 'Me Pregunta La Vecina' (The Neighbor Asks Me), 'El Cantante' includes brilliant songs such as 'Ella' (She), 'Reina de mis Toledos' (Queen of My Toledos) or 'Jugadora' (Player). The album plays with parallels ('Gente Bonita' (Pretty People) - 'Mala Gente' (Bad People)) and variations on the same theme: the beloved and love in general.

'El Cantante' is a creative exercise by Pole. that manages to enter the universe of rumba and the flamenco and traditional Madrid imagery (which Pole. has once again worked on with Bandiz Studio) while maintaining a certain swagger from his hip-hop background that crystallizes in the album's outro, 'Chicharrón y Chandon'. Who knows what Pole. would have achieved if he had stayed true to rap?

The reality is very different. Pole. has become 'El Cantante': he reclaims tradition and takes it by the arm for a stroll through the bars. November 1st will be different. On that day, Pole. has an appointment at the WiZink Center in Madrid, with few tickets still unsold six months before the date and with the certainty that it will be the night that consecrates him as the greatest singer-songwriter of his generation.
