Following the success of The Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd transitioned from a prominent British band to one of the biggest rock groups in the world, taking their live shows to large venues and stadiums.

The Wish You Were Here Tour was announced in early March 1975, just a month before it began. Dates sold out immediately, breaking box office records, including at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, where all 67,000 tickets for four nights sold out in a single day. A fifth additional date confirmed a residency at the venue and also sold out within hours.

The recording on which this historic release is based was made by renowned bootlegger Mike “Mike the Mic” Millard, famous for the quality of his recordings at Los Angeles concerts during the 70s. To avoid security, Millard concealed his equipment by pretending to be disabled and entering venues in a wheelchair. Although many of his recordings circulated unofficially on vinyl, he never supported their commercialization for profit. Pink Floyd's penultimate concert at the venue remained unreleased and virtually inaccessible until now.

Restored and remastered by Steven Wilson, this release offers the definitive recording of the 1975 tour.

At the time of these concerts, Pink Floyd was in a phase of creative transition. Although a new album was expected that same year, the band began their North American tour presenting material still in development on stage. The setlist opened with early versions of ‘Raving and Drooling’ and ‘You’ve Got To Be Crazy,’ which would later evolve into ‘Sheep’ and ‘Dogs’ on the Animals album. ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond,’ in its two parts, framed another new composition, ‘Have a Cigar.’ After these pieces, the group performed The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety, closing the concert with ‘Echoes’ as an encore.
