J puts music to the legacy of Iván Zulueta
In mid-summer 2021, the Spanish Film Library announced the acquisition of “one of the most powerful personal archives in the cinematographic context of the second half of the 20th century”, that of the San Sebastian filmmaker and designer Iván Zulueta.
In early fall 2023, Casa Maracas announces that one of the most powerful artists in the context of Spanish-language music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries has set Zulueta's visual legacy to music.
J has been fully incorporated into the film collections, in Super 8, 16 and 35 mm, shot by Zulueta mainly during the 1960s and 1980s, partly unpublished, as well as in personal and family documents, the numerous polaroids with the that Zulueta experimented during his creative process, some script, sketches, posters and press clippings that complete the already existing collection, to inspire a songbook in which every last characteristic feature of his
proposal is purified and perfected.
This is J's first solo release, which will have, once again, the support of another essential San Sebastian graphic artist, Javier Aramburu, whose precise knowledge and close connection with the figures and works of J and Zulueta allow us to anticipate a prodigy.
“Natalia dice”, in which J, in collaboration with the people of La Plata 107 Faunos and Srta. Trueno Negro, fundamental figures in the contemporary Argentine underground scene and “Arrebato (A good day for Iván)” as an unreleased song that accompanies it.
There is so much of Iván in him that, for Zulueta, J is more J.
