The reissue coincides with the release of the documentary "Luther: Never Too Much," praised as one of the most anticipated documentaries of 2024, further solidifying his status as a music icon.

In June 1976, the R&B landscape was forever changed with the debut of Luther Vandross's album Luther and his band, showcasing his extraordinary vocal, songwriting, and production talents. The album included the hit "Funky Music (Is A Part Of Me)," which Luther Vandross and David Bowie reimagined as "Fascination" for Bowie's iconic Young Americans, illustrating Vandross's influence with his background vocals and arrangements. It also featured "Everybody Rejoice (A Brand New Day)," from the award-winning musical "The Wiz," which is the only known recording of Vandross's performance of the song.
