On May 11, 2011, an earthquake devastated the city of Lorca, Murcia, causing nine deaths and over three hundred injuries. 80% of homes were damaged or ruined, as were most public buildings and historical heritage sites. The Narciso Yepes Conservatory was severely damaged, and the damage prevented classes from continuing there. A year later, the Murcia Region Symphony Orchestra and Vetusta Morla came together for two evenings at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia, on May 31 and June 1, 2012, where they reinterpreted songs from the band's first two albums based on orchestral arrangements by thirteen composers. After being closed for more than three years, the conservatory reopened its doors in September 2014.
