The iconic 1977 album by Pink Floyd has been remixed by James Guthrie. Animals is a concept album, centered on the sociopolitical conditions of mid-70s Britain, and marked a departure from the style of the band's earlier works. The album evolved from a collection of unconnected songs into a concept describing the apparent social and moral decay of society, comparing the human condition to that of animals. Drawing inspiration from George Orwell's "Animal Farm," the album portrays different classes of people as animals, with pigs at the top of the social chain, descending to sheep as mindless flocks who follow what they are told, and dogs as the business bosses who grow fat on money and power they hold over others. Although much time has passed since 1977, the album's narrative still resonates today, as our social and economic situation mirrors that of the time.
