Among the gems included is Robert Schumann's "Bilder aus Osten", skillfully adapted to an ambitious symphonic style by Friedrich Hermann, a student of Mendelssohn, which was rediscovered by Festival Strings Lucerne a few years ago.

It also includes another beautiful piece by Schumann, the peaceful and dreamlike "Abendlied", masterfully adapted by Johan Svendsen. The orchestra also presents a world-premiere recording of Antonin Dvorak's "Andante" from his String Quartet Op. 9, arranged by Martin Braun in 2020. It also includes Dvorak's endearing Serenade for String Orchestra, celebrated for its bohemian beauty and one of the original classics of the romantic repertoire for string ensemble. The album concludes with the lively "Scherzo" by Austrian composer Franz Schenker, which with its dance dynamics and vibrant melody is almost reminiscent of Dvořák.
