2023 is starting in a big way for Sílvia Pérez Cruz, who is finalizing what will become her eighth solo album this spring, and will kick off a tour with dates already confirmed in Girona, Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona. In addition, she is starting a tour that will take her through Europe in a special collaboration with the Irish singer and songwriter Damien Rice.
A singular artist forged from the basis of solid artistic teachings in music theory, saxophone, piano, cajon, harmony, jazz and flamenco singing or improvisation, Sílvia once again opens a cycle, and she does so precisely with a project with cyclical connotations. Through its 21 songs, it tries to organize an entire life through five stages that function as five ages.
“It is a reflection on life and death, but death as a step of transformation, focusing on the cyclical nature of time, ordered with beginnings and endings, celebrating rebirth and all ages,” says Sílvia. His is an album with a lot of composition and his own arrangement, very personal, in which he felt that kind of rebirth that he describes when creating lyrics and harmonies. “I wanted the album to have that mix between the intimacy of loneliness and collective singing, there is a phrase that says I would like to sing to unite solitudes . That choir represents everyone, I would love for people to sing and celebrate with me at the concert,” summarizes the singer and songwriter from Palafrugell.
This album will be Silvia Pérez Cruz's first work after her recent signing for Sony Music. Protagonist of risky and eclectic projects for more than a decade, the Catalan received the 2022 National Prize for Current Music last October, awarded by the Ministry of Culture in recognition of “her unwavering commitment to beauty” and “creative quality and interpretation of his career.”
This promising year 2023 will take Sílvia to tour different parts of the country throughout the year, presenting her long-awaited new album in Europe, Latin America and other geographies. In addition, Sílvia announced this past Wednesday, January 11, a European tour in a special collaboration with Damien Rice. The 12-concert tour, which has already posted the 'no tickets' sign, will pass through cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Milan and Paris, among others.
