«Pink Floyd at Pompeii» is one of the most influential live albums in rock history

Anticipated by «Echoes», the legendary Pink Floyd concert in Pompeii from 1972 will be released on May 2nd for the first time as an album. Titled «Pink Floyd at Pompeii», the album will be available on double vinyl, double CD, digital, and Dolby Atmos.

Filmed without an audience in the Roman amphitheater of Pompeii (70 BC) months before the release of «The Dark Side of the Moon», this concert is one of the most influential in the history of contemporary music, thanks to its innovative transitions and links between songs, which go beyond improvisation - common at the time - elevating conceptual music, and progressive rock in particular, to the next level. This aspect, among others, would influence the live performances of countless artists to this day.

In addition, this new edition will include an alternative version of «Careful with that axe» linked to «Eugene», as well as the original (unedited) version of «A saucerful of secrets». The original 1972 film, directed by Adrian Maben, has been hand-restored, remastered in 4K from the original 35mm footage (with enhanced audio and a new mix by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree) and will be screened in cinemas soon.
