Mafalda Cardenal has anthems falling out of her pockets. Determined to become a chronicler of a generation, this March 7th she presents no estabamos juntos (we weren't together), another song of uncontrollable naturalness and immediate impact with which she advances towards what will soon become her debut album.
No estabamos juntos (we weren't together) doesn't deceive: it's one of those girl-meets-boy songs, as she sings from the very first verse. "You know the typical girl-meets-boy story, it seems to be going well and then suddenly it's not? Well, that's what the song is about," confesses the young artist from Alicante, who defines her new song as "a story (without fairies) of a girl who wanted to believe... like a small child who believes in Santa Claus."

The title refers to one of the most common excuses used by guys when they're caught cheating. "It's what Ross did with Rachel and my ex did with me," Mafalda accuses. But in this story, she clarifies, the girl wakes up and he's left telling stories alone.
These are the materials with which Mafalda Cardenal creates another of her stories so close to Gen Z, of which she has become a spokesperson with her guitar and moving frankness.
Songs like tu fan (your fan), with which she became known and which already has 90 million streams, or like solo un nombre (just a name) and vete a la luna (go to the moon) describe the essence of a moving artist. These are songs that emerge from her room and connect with her followers through emotional sincerity.
Mafalda writes "what she would have liked to hear when she was going through a difficult time" and shares it with young people like her through her songs. These are stories as real and profound as the one she is now releasing. Mafalda has turned a pink guitar and a broken heart into an increasingly promising musical project.
